Home office update

I honestly couldn’t have moved at a more perfect time. Just a couple of weeks after I moved into an apartment where I have a spare bedroom for a home office, my office went remote.

For the first couple of weeks, it looked a little like this

Obviously that was not gonna work for me if I’m gonna be stuck in one room by myself for at least 8 hours a day. I had to do it up a little bit to spark some joy and creativity for the next who knows how long that we’re gonna be stuck at home.

I’d say my home office is about 70% done here. It’s got the foundation in place, but I haven’t added the moments of character yet. Things to add: cozy rug, some small accessories, and of course, the installation on the back wall. I’m going to probably do some shelves there with a piece of art in the middle. Without it, I know, it looks a little empty and underwhelming.

Buut I can’t exactly go out thrifting or scoping out furniture stores to find the perfect last additions yet, so I figured I would just update y’all right now. And you can just expect a FULL reveal in the (hopefully) near future.

Heeere it is

This entrance will definitely be a lot grander once the back wall is complete and I slide a rug in there. But look at those french doors. I’m itching to paint them teal. Yay or nay?

Does this table look familiar?

Instead of getting a more traditional desk, I wanted more of a “project table.” Something that’s a little bigger and better suited for multiple uses at once. And it just so happened that my dining table was perfect for that! Plus, it gave me an excuse to get a new dining table to switch up the vibe a little.

My monitor is from my work, so once that goes, I’ll just be using my laptop. Even though having a monitor iiiis nice, but I want to clear some room up to put my sewing machine on one end.

Tip: always have a candle to burn nearby. I’ve been burning one almost every day for the past week and a half of WFHing, and it’s great. Also, it’s nice to have a tray for when you decide putting on jewelry to sit at home all day is dumb.

The chill zone

This is my reading and relaxation corner slash where my dog sits all day distracting me with her loud ass snoring. But I’m not complaining, at least I can have my dog at the office now 😉

The shelves can definitely use some sprucing, but this is the result of trying to throw it together in a night. This needs a lot of work still, but the bones are in place.

Some shelf styling is all it needs to bring it to life. And probably finding a new place for the filing stand.

First-time plant mom here, currently thriving because cacti are the easiest plants to take care of. I inherited about 20 of them from my old neighbor when she moved, and I am proud to say that they are all still living. (Well, one was decapitated in the moving process, but pretty sure she’s still kickin’)

I love this little hand-me-down bookcase. I’m trying to get into a more consistent routine of reading, so hopefully this collection will expand into the second-to-bottom shelf.

And I have these kick-ass mirrored closet doors that are perfect for pictures. Plus, having this whole big closet for storage is a HUGE benefit for a home office. It’s a little bit organized in there. But I’ll spare you and reveal it when it’s a little more together in the final home office update.
